My name is Sheff and I’m an artist, illustrator, designer and teacher.
Recently, my Wacom Cintiq 21UX, from 2010 broke on me. I suspect, it’s a damaged cable since the connection to the display is poorly designed. I contacted Wacom about getting a new cable. Several days later, I was informed that they no longer support my device and that I would simply have to buy a new one. Wacom devices are not cheap. I need to replace it but I’m not eager to pay Wacom’s high prices as they dominate this hardware niche. Given a choice, I would prefer to buy a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 or 32 in the future rather than a Cintiq Pro 13 or 16 Graphic Tablet both of which are currently available as of 9/25/17. However, the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 and 32 won’t be released until January 2018.
The reason I rebooted this blog was to see if I could fund the cost of a new Cintiq Pro 24 or 32 ($2000/$3200 respectively) strictly through reviews and blogging, rather than freelance assignments from clients. I’m curious to know how long this will take for me to accomplish this starting from zero with a new social media account without any followers at all. I’m looking to see if I can finance a new Cintiq Pro through social media and affiliate marketing, or will I need to find a cheaper alternative. In any case, if I do choose to go through with the Wacom, I want to know if I can earn enough by the time it is released in January 2018. How much I earn this way (rather than through freelancing for clients) will determine which replacement I purchase.
